Amulets

Over winter break I decided to use my free time to work on creative projects. It turns out that I spent more time sitting in bed on the internet, but in between episodes of Totally Biased and scrolling through tumblr I was able to fit in a few projects. One of my proudest accomplishments was to make these two little cat pendants. Considering I don't have much artistic ability, I'm thrilled with how they turned out. I gave the purple one to my friend Alice and I kept the pink one for myself. It reminds me of spring and it looks very tranquil, so I think of it as an amulet to bring me sunny, peaceful vibes during this long winter.

P.S. I used cardboard boxes as palettes and the colors were so pretty that I had to scan them before I recycled them.

Frost Queen

Jacket: Ebay
Dress and shoes: thrifted
Tights: American Apparel

This is an outfit that worked really well with my lack of eyebrows. One of my friends told me I looked like a frost queen, which is always an ideal look. Rosy cheeks, pale lips, and bleached brows are the way to go in winter.

Do Not Enter The Dog Park

Jacket: thrifted/diy
Pants: American Apparel
Shirt: Welcome to Night Vale merch
Boots: Dr. Martens
Hat: very old and I don't remember
Lipstick: Portland Black Lipstick Co.

Here I am looking real jaunty in my winter layers. I've decided to start documenting my more casual outfits because 1) I think they're still pretty cute, and 2) if I only post my fanciest outfits on here, it's not really an accurate representation of my style. Sometimes you just have to wear a t-shirt and jeans, you know? Plus this will hopefully motivate me to make my casual outfits look good too. I'm starting to accumulate a bunch of clothes that are practical and comfortable but still stylish, and it makes me a lot more excited to get dressed in the morning. This isn't to say that I won't still wear giant shoulder pads and floor-sweeping skirts, I'll just look better on the days when I take a break from the weird outfits.

Usually I'm not one to buy fandom merch, but these creepy deer won me over. If you're not familiar with Welcome to Night Vale, it's a free podcast about a fictional town in the desert where strange, unexplainable things are always happening. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something spooky and fun to listen to on your daily commute. It took me through countless long shuttle rides when I had my internship over the summer.

P.S. Sorry for the dodgy photo quality in these. Oncoming winter means that daylight is limited and even when it's light out, it can be cloudy and gross. There's only so much my little point-and-shoot can do!

~college fashionista~

So, uh, I guess I got featured in my school's style column? I busted out my best 70's goth outfit and awkward blogger pose for the occasion. You can see the actual post here, which includes a rare photo of me smiling. It was nice to have someone else take pictures of me for once, even if I'm a painfully awkward model! I'm really happy with this outfit, and my eyebrows look bitchin' (aka androgynous) to boot.

Pajama Party

Thrifted top, pants, and earrings; Topshop shoes

Here's an outfit from mid-october that I never posted. I'm really into how big my braid is when I wear my hair like this. I'm also into how these pants are pajamas but I can pretty much get away with wearing them in public.

Snug in Space

Dr. Martens boots, American Apparel disco pants, thrifted sweater, diy scarf, Illamasqua lipstick

Hi friends, it's been a while! While I was away I had some fun with my eyebrows. Unfortunately it's not really a sustainable look - apparently my eyebrows grow freakishly fast and they're so dark that they won't bleach much lighter than a buttery yellow. Still, the alien look is really fun and I'm glad I finally worked up the courage to try it!

I got these disco pants for my birthday in the summer and I'm smitten with them! They feel like leggings but look like a retrofuturistic space suit. They're good for winter days when I don't want to wear real clothes, especially if I throw on this massive sweater and my trusty boots. Cozy alien looks are essential for surviving Wisconsin winters while still looking fly (if I seem overdramatic about winter, it's because it snowed yesterday and I wasn't emotionally ready).

  1. up close and personal with my velvet jumpsuit
  2. a mostly worn-off temp tat that looked like a bruise
  3. matching my nails to my fruit
  4. eye manicure a la Rookie
  5. scans of my hair
I know I haven't been keeping this blog strictly (or even primarily) about my outfits lately, but know that I have some outfit posts planned for the near future! Until then, here are some pictures of pretty things that I've stumbled across recently. Strange textures and eerie vibes are what I'm all about right now.
